DARLINGTON,SC (WMBF) - Students in the Darlington County School District will have to make up three of the five missed days. Two of the days will be made up on February 28 and March 3, and the third is yet to be determined by the Darlington County Board of Education.
March 3, which was originally a staff development day, was one of three days designated on the school district's calendar as a make-up day. Since March 3 is now a regular student day, DCSD employees will use June 6 as a staff development day.
State law requires districts to make up all missed student days; however, a bill before the SC legislature will allow school boards to forgive some inclement weather days if necessary. Later this month, the Darlington County Board of Education will consider several options to address the remaining missed school days, including forgiveness, if that option is available.
