Man burned in house fire in Florence Sunday

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Firefighters responded to a report of a person on fire on Pine Street Sunday afternoon; one man was taken to the hospital were severe burns.

Firefighters responded to the 700 block of Pine Street at about 3 p.m. Sunday and found a man with severe burns to his body and heavy fire involvement to the front of the home, according to a news release from the Florence Fire Department.

Firefighters searched the structure due to reports of an unaccounted-for resident, and started to suppress the fire. Florence County EMS arrived, began care on the burned patient, and transported him to a nearby medical center.

The resident who was unaccounted for was found outside the building without any injuries, the report states.

The fire was under control within about 40 minutes, and the Florence Police Department was called to investigate the incident, according to the news release. All fire units were cleared from the scene by 5:45 p.m.
