GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) — A multi-agency effort will feed the mouths of those still without power as a result of Winter Storm Pax.
Beginning at noon Sunday, the first meal will be served at Northeast Regional Recreation Center. Later, dinner will be served at three locations in Georgetown.
Following that, three meals per day will be served on subsequent days until electricity is restored to at least most parts of the county in Georgetown.
Locations where meals will be served include:
· Ringle Heights Baptist Church, 78 Ruben Ave., Georgetown
· Northeast Regional Recreation Center, 8189 Choppee Road, Georgetown
· Sandpit Park, 495 Powell Road, Georgetown
Starting tomorrow, meals will be served daily at 8 a.m., noon and 6 p.m. The South Carolina Baptist Convention Disaster Relief, the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross have partnered for this effort. Volunteers expect to serve 150 meals a day, which will be handed out until supplies are gone.
Meals will be prepared at Ringle Heights by S.C. Baptist Disaster Relief and transported by the Red Cross and Salvation Army to the other serving locations.
In addition to meals, the Southeastern Baptist Association will have mobile shower units available at Ringle Heights for use by anyone who wants a hot shower. Towels are provided, but people should bring their own toiletries.
There are still more than 6,100 homes in Georgetown County without electricity and utility
companies are unsure when remaining outages may be repaired.
