Check this week's scorecard before heading to Valentine's Dinner

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - You may be looking to "spice" up your Valentine's Day with Asian fusion or Mexican food. DHEC inspectors dropped into two North Strand restaurants: Jay's Asian Fusion and El Cerro Grande, for food establishment reviews.

Customers at the Mexican hot spot support its high results.

"They have great food, and it's a clean atmosphere, and if anyone's looking for a place to take their sweethearts tonight, you know it'd be a great place for Valentine's Day," says restaurant regular Brittany Bogle.

Bogle and her friend, Allison McConnaughy, love the margaritas, but that's not all they love about North Myrtle Beach restaurant.

McConnaughy says she loves the "good margaritas, good food, good service."

They also are happy to see an "A" score on the restaurant's door. DHEC cited a few minor violations, such as a food build-up in the dish machine, but overall, the restaurant got a high score of a 94.

Jay's Asian Fusion, on the other hand, scored an 81, and wears a "B" on its door. DHEC cited the restaurant for cleanliness, with a critical violation for the dish machine not sanitizing. Ten minor violations included uncovered food, which can be harmful to your health, as well as a build-up of grease on table tops and floors.

The manager was not available to speak on camera but said when inspectors came into the restaurant, the floor was dirty around the hibachi grill from rice, which falls while they're cooking. He says they make sure the restaurant is left spotless every night.

The sushi and hibachi-style restaurant says they'll be ready for their follow up review.
