Two warming shelters will open in western portions of Georgetown County tonight.
A shelter at Pleasant Hill Elementary School will open at 7 p.m. The address is 127 Schoolhouse Drive, Hemingway, SC 29554.
A shelter at Andrews Elementary School will open at 7:30 p.m. The address is 13072 County Line Road, Andrews, SC 29510.
The public is reminded that pets, firearms and alcohol are not allowed in shelters or warming stations. People seeking admittance at a shelter may want to bring the following items:
- Any medications that will be needed
- Blankets, pillows and/or sleeping bags
- Eating utensils
- One flashlight per person
- Identification and valuable papers (such as tax bills, drivers licenses, utility bills)
- Baby food and diapers
- Cards, games and books
- Battery-operated radio
- Extra Batteries
- Drinking water
- First aid kid
- Non-perishable food
The City of Georgetown has also opened a warming center at City Hall, 120 N. Fraser St. Unlike shelters, the warming center won't have food available or sleeping space.
