CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – A 50-year-old Conway man was arrested on Friday for allegedly threatening to kill a Horry County Deputy Sheriff.

On the morning of February 7, the Horry County Sheriff's Office arrested Tommy Lee Watts and charged him with threatening the life of a public official.

According to a news release from the Horry County Sheriff's Office, a deputy sheriff was at Watts' house to serve a criminal arrest warrant. Watts was not home at the time, and his wife called him to tell him the deputy was at his house.

Watts called 911 and told the operator that he was en route to his home, and that he would "kill the deputy if he laid a hand on his wife and didn't leave his residence," according to the news release.

Watts was released from J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $20,000 bond and was ordered to wear a GPS monitoring device.
