Known gang member turns himself in to police

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach Police were looking for a known gang member for first degree burglary, attempted murder, and armed robbery, but the man turned himself in to police.

Akeem Maurice Hamilton, 27, is a known gang member, according to Myrtle Beach Police, and was wanted for his alleged involvement in an incident on Jan. 31.

The police report stated a man was shot in the leg on Eighth Avenue South. That man claimed two black males wearing black masks with guns charged after him into his apartment and demanded money. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Myrtle Beach Police spokesman Capt. David Knipes said Hamilton turned himself in on Monday, Feb. 3 and was charged with armed robbery, attempted murder and burglary.
