Powerball jackpot at $247 million, Mega Millions over $100 million

Below is a news release from the SC Education Lottery:

COLUMBIA, SC (February 7, 2014) – With back-to-back jackpot drawings at over $100 million, lottery players have plenty to be excited about this weekend. Tonight South Carolinians can play for a chance at a $107 MILLION Mega Millions® jackpot and tomorrow night try for the $247 MILLION Powerball® top prize.

The $107 million Mega Millions® jackpot boasts a cash value of $59 million. Tickets must be purchased by 10 tonight for the 11o'clock Mega Millions® drawing. Tickets are $1. South Carolina has yet to produce a Mega Millions® jackpot winner.

The winner of the $247 million Powerball's® jackpot can elect a cash option of $142.5 million. Tickets must be purchased by 9:59 on Wednesday night for the 10:59 drawing. Powerball tickets are $2. South Carolina has had seven Powerball® jackpot winners.

The odds of winning either jackpot are long, about 1 in 176 million for Powerball® and 1 in 259 million for Mega Millions®.

    BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WMBF) – Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is looking to identify a suspect who robbed a BP gas station Saturday night, according to a release. The suspect robbed the gas station at 5053 Southport-Supply Road in Southport around 8:30 Saturday night. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6’0” tall, wearing a short sleeve, dark blue t-shirt, tan pants, and a camouflage beanie. He also has a beard or facial hair.  No ...More >>

    Educators of the future are taking a stand, following a vigil held on the camps of Coastal Carolina University honoring the 17 lives lost in a Florida shooting. CCU students Tyler Bealmear and Kaycelyn Laymon have a love and passion for children and education, their hearts broken by the tragedy, but each refusing to let situations like these continue.
