Horry County Fire Rescue warning of possibly fraudulent phone calls

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Horry County Fire Rescue is warning residents of a deceptive phone call from a group claiming to be raising money for HCFR.

According to Lieutenant Julius Graham with HCFR, people are calling Horry County residents, claiming to be from Southeast Fire and Safety, saying they are raising money for HCFR and the North Myrtle Beach Fire Department.

According to a Facebook post from HCFR, the fraudulent phone call comes from the number 407-990-1600, and the caller goes by the name Trey Hutchinson. He is in no way affiliated with HCFR, officials stated.

In a tweet, HCFR requested that residents do not donate any money to anyone claiming to be calling from Southeast Fire and Safety claiming to be raising money for either HCFR.
