Dogs search for suspected armed robbers in Little River

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Bloodhounds were called to Highway 90 in Little River Tuesday afternoon to help in the search for two armed robbery suspects, according to Horry County Police spokesman Robert Kegler.

The two men are suspected of robbing Benjamin's Jewelers on Highway 90 at about 1:45 p.m. The bloodhound team tracked them to a location where police believe they got in a car and drove away.

According to the police report, the victims told police that two men wearing all black, ski masks and gloves entered the business. One of the men pointed a gun at one of the victims and started yelling "give me everything."

Two of the victims began emptying one of the display cases and filling up one of the suspect's bags, the report states. They gave the suspects all the fake jewelry and real jewelry until the bag was filled.

The suspects ran out of the door and behind the business; the owner of the store drove behind the building and tried to find them, but was unsuccessful, according to the police report. The victims told police they believed the value of the stolen goods to be over $30,000.

A dog team searched the area and found several pieces of jewelry in the woods, but did not locate the suspects.

The suspects were described in the report as two black males, about 5'7" to 5'9" tall with slender builds.

If you know where they might be, call 915-TIPS.
