Coastal Cancer Center to host 'Look Good...Feel Better' sessions

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Coastal Cancer Center is hosting free sessions to help local women undergoing cancer treatment manage their changing appearance. The next "Look Good… Feel Better" session is next Monday, February 10.

Co-hosted with the American Cancer Society, the "Look Good… Feel Better" program pairs up local cosmetology professionals with area women undergoing cancer treatment to help them better understand changes to their appearance during chemotherapy or radiation.

During the free two-hour session, cosmetologists will guide participants through make-up application, turban styling and wig care. All women in attendance will receive complimentary make-up kits.

"Look Good…Feel Better" sessions will be held at Coastal Cancer Center from 2-4 p.m. on the following dates in 2014:

  • FEBRUARY 10 – Coastal Cancer Center, 817 Farrar Drive, Conway
  • APRIL 14 – Coastal Cancer Center, 8121 Rourk Street, Myrtle Beach
  • SEPTEMBER 8 – Coastal Cancer Center, 8121 Rourk Street, Myrtle Beach
  • SEPTEMBER 29 - Coastal Cancer Center, 817 Farrar Drive, Conway
  • NOVEMBER 10 -Coastal Cancer Center, 8121 Rourk Street, Myrtle Beach
  • DECEMBER 8 – Coastal Cancer Center, 8121 Rourk Street, Myrtle Beach

Women in cancer treatment or within six months before or after having treatments can register by calling 1-800-227-2345.

    Summer hasn't even technically started, yet the summer-like heat and humidity will continue to reach uncomfortable levels the next few days. We start off this morning with mugginess in the air. High temperatures reach near 87 along the Grand Strand but easily make it into the low 90s inland. The heat index will feel like 95 to 100 along the coast, but more like 102 to 105 inland.
