McLeod Loris Seacoast Hospital hosts several events this Feb.

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - The McLeod Loris Seacoast Hospital is hosting several events this month, such as a their cancer support groups and the free Heart Health Seminar.

McLeod Loris Seacoast is pleased to announce the addition of a free Cancer Support Group for anyone whose life has been touched by cancer, such as, a patient, caregiver, friend or family member.

The group, open to people of all ages, is held the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Auxiliary Room at McLeod Seacoast. In each meeting, a key speaker will address various topics of interest for cancer patients and their families. Support groups can enhance self-esteem, reduce depression, decrease anxiety and help to improve relationships with family members and friends.

In recognition of National Heart Month, McLeod Seacoast is hosting a lunch and a free Heart Health seminar. The seminar will discuss heart health, risks for developing heart disease and preventive measures that can be taken to maintain a healthy heart.

Dr. Nathan Almeida, of Pee Dee Cardiology, will be the key speaker at the seminar scheduled for Thursday, February 20, at 12 p.m. in the Auxiliary Room at McLeod Seacoast.
