Posted: Updated:

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – At around 12:47 p.m., Horry County Fire Rescue was called to a reported gas leak along Waccamaw Boulevard near Hwy 501.

It appears a construction crew ruptured the line, said Lieutenant Julius Graham with HCFR.

South Carolina Department of Transportation and the Highway Patrol are closing Waccamaw Blvd from River Oak Drive to Dick Scobee Drive, and the nearby Days Inn is being evacuated as a precaution until further notice.

The utility company has been called to shut off the gas line.
