Posted: Updated:

A winter storm is heading our way. If you or someone you know needs a warm place to sleep, here are some warming shelters opening up to protect you from the elements.

The Red Cross is supporting a warming center at the request of Williamsburg Emergency Management for the homeless, elderly and those who may have inadequate heating. The warming center will be open from 4 p.m. Tuesday to 8 a.m. Thursday at the Williamsburg Recreation Center at 2084 Thurgood Marshall in Kingstree. For more information about the warming center call Williamsburg County at 843-354-9330.

Second Baptist Church at 212 W. Washington St. in Hartsville will serve as a continuously open shelter location during the inclement weather this week.

Whosoever Community Church in Florence is now operating as a 24 hour warming center until Friday.

The City of Marion will open a warming shelter at the Fire Station on Bond Street on Tuesday for the residents of Marion. Those with questions about this service, can contact City Hall at 843-423-5961 or Marion Fire Department 843-423-8602.
