Horry County returns to 'OPCON 5,' normal operating conditions

Posted: Updated:

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - After spending much of Tuesday at Operating Condition Level 1, or 'OPCON 1,' the county moved back to the less-severe OPCON 3 and closed the Emergency Operations Center.

At noon Wednesday, the county moved back to 'OPCON 5,' which is the county's normal operating conditions, and reopened the county offices as planned, confirmed county spokeswoman Lisa Bourcier.

Work on the steel girders on Highway 17 Bypass at SC-707 will still be put off for Wednesday night. The plan is to resume construction on the Back Gate bridge Thursday, but that may change, Bourcier said.
