Bright's US Senate campaign gives away rifle

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - State Sen. Lee Bright's campaign for U.S. Senate is giving away a rifle in a drawing.

Bright sent an email to supporters encouraging them to sign up for a drawing Feb. 15 for an AR-15 from Palmetto Armory in Columbia. He also asked for donations for his Republican primary challenge against U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham.

Bright's email opens with saying how gun control supporters tried to use the killing of 26 students and staffers at a school in Newtown, Conn., to pass new laws, but how strong supporters of the Second Amendment like himself kept them from winning.

Bright is one of four Republicans who say they will run against Graham in June's primary.
