A Surfside Beach chiropractor has been charged with assault and battery, first degree, after a woman, 35, reported that he touched her inappropriately during a session, according to police records.

Albert Vincent Lamanna, 63, was booked at J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Jan. 16. Bond was set at $30,000, and he was released a day later, jail records show.

According to a police report, the woman said she'd been seeing the same chiropractor for three to four years.

In an interview with police, she stated she visited the suspect's office on Nov. 2, 2013 to be treated for a chronic issue. She said she was in an ultrasound room with the suspect and was mostly undressed.

The woman said in the report she was face down on the table when the suspect began touching her inappropriately. She said the encounter lasted about 10 minutes and ceased when another patient could be heard in another room, the report said.

According to the report, the suspect made a comment that he wished he had more time. The woman said she was in shock by what happened.

The woman said in the report that a similar incident occurred in 2010. She said she didn't initially question that incident, but now does.
