FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A prostitution sting by the Florence County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division has landed three people behind bars.

Police arrested 20-year-old Thomas Bateman of Florence, 47-year-old Timothy Tyler of Fairmont, NC, and 57-year-old Cornelius James of Darlington and charged each with prostitution.

The sting that led to those arrests was conducted at a hotel near Highway 52 and Interstate 95 on Jan. 16 as a response to complaints about prostitution.

The three arrested were drawn to the motel by using a website on which prostitutes are known to advertise their services.

"An undercover female FCSO deputy posing as a prostitute on the website was contacted by individuals seeking sexual services and agreed to meet at an area motel. Thomas Bateman, Timothy Tyler and Cornelius James were arrested by Investigators at the motel after they agreed to exchange money for sex acts," explained sheriff's office spokesman Capt. Mike Nunn.
