Rev up your artistic creativity for Darlington's Race Week

DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) - The Darlington Square will celebrate this year's Race Week by holding a racing-themed art contest.

The Market on Darlington Square Committee asks artists to create and submit one piece of artwork in any media that captures the essence, history, culture, or excitement of racing. Entries focusing on the Southern 500 or Darlington-related specifics will be given greater favor. Only original artwork will be accepted.

A jury panel of art professionals and local celebrities will choose the winning piece, and the top prize is $100 for ages 18 and older and $50 for ages 17 and younger. Visitors to the exhibit that Saturday, April 12, during the Market will vote for one People's Choice Award winner, who will receive $100.

The artwork will be on display inside the courthouse lobby at the center of the Market on Darlington Square activities, which take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Public Square in Darlington

The cost to enter the contest is $15 for ages 18 & older and is $5 for ages 17 & younger.

Artwork must be submitted by Monday, March 31. Applications are available online at, by emailing, and at the City Administration office.
