SC expo showcasing new crop management technology

FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) - Information about innovations in agriculture is the focus of a scheduled expo in Florence.

The 2014 SC AgriBiz & Farm Expo is set to begin on Thursday at the Florence Civic Center. Organizers say those in attendance will get information about how devices called Agricultural Unmanned Aircraft Systems can help farmers have greater precision in crop management and irrigation.

Officials say universities in both South and North Carolina are currently conducting research on practical applications in agriculture for this technology.

The expo also features more than a dozen antique tractors, the 100-year celebration of Clemson Extension Service and more than 100 top agricultural exhibitors.
