MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Police have identified a suspect in an attempted armed robbery in Myrtle Beach last week.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department says Jonathan Robert Gary, 28, is wanted in connection with an attempted armed robbery that happened on January 13 at 13th Avenue South and Ocean Boulevard. Police urge caution, as Gary has convictions for assaults and robberies.

Gary's last known address was 2200 South Ocean Boulevard, #303, but he has since checked out of this room.

At about 11:30 p.m., Myrtle Beach Police responded to the 1300 block of South Ocean Boulevard in response to a reported armed robbery.

There, the victim and a witness told police two men in a dark car approached the victim, and the passenger of the car presented a black handgun, demanding the victim's money. The victim turned and ran from the vehicle, and the witness called 911.

Detectives responded to the incident location to investigate, and the victim was given a victim's assistance form.

If Gary is located, MBPD asks that Det. Clothier or an on-duty detective be contacted for an interview.
