Horry County Police investigate stabbing near Galivants Ferry

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – One man was taken to the hospital Monday morning after being stabbed at a machine shop near Galivants Ferry, officials confirmed.

Lt. Robert Kegler confirmed Horry County Police are investigating the stabbing, which took place at a machine shop in the 1700 block of Barnhill Road Monday morning.

The adult male victim was taken to a nearby hospital. The suspect was described only as a man in a hooded sweatshirt.

According to the police report, when the victim went inside the machine shop, he was confronted by an unknown man who had a silver knife in his hand and demanded money. The victim gave the man $600; he then stabbed the victim in the stomach and ran off.

When police arrived, they found the victim had two apparent stab wounds to his abdomen. The victim told police that the knife appeared to be a household kitchen knife.
