MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) - When it comes to sports, one thing Hannah Price has gotten accustomed to is responsibility. After helping lead the St. James softball team at third base last year, she is looking for greater success guiding the Sharks on the court in her final year of playing basketball.
"We're having a lot more fun, we have a lot more chemistry than we had before, and everyone is working together really good," said Price.
After jumping out to a 9-2 mark so far this year, it's not just her that expects to lead this team.
"We have five sophomores that play quite a bit," said Stan Patterson, the St. James girls basketball head coach. "We have a junior that plays quite a bit, so Hannah and about two others seniors are all we have. She's been with us for four years so I really look to her for leadership, and get us going and put us in the right places."
"I just try and lead by example," Price explained. "I'm not really the yell-at-the-person kind of type, but I try to lead by example and just let them follow me I guess."
But winning always makes things easier.
"(This is) Probably my most fun season so far, and obviously we're trying to win as many games as possible and put us in the best situation," she said.
But her future lies on the diamond. After this year, she'll head down the road to Hartsville to play softball for Coker College, and having her decision made up before the season starts should be helpful.
"It is a weight off my shoulders, but I'm still going to do whatever I can to help us get to our main goal and stuff," Price went on. "The pressure is still there to get the job done."
