Consider This: Goals for 2014

As we begin 2014, I decided to look back at the wish list I created at the start of 2013:

  • A bipartisan solution to resolve our debt crisis
  • New gun ownership policies
  • Construction permits issued for I-73
  • More air service in and out of Myrtle Beach International
  • A record breaking year for tourism
  • Multiple job announcements, including a new industry for the ITAP
  • No hurricanes in South Carolina
  • Coastal Carolina's football team going back –and getting further – in the playoffs

How about that? We actually accomplished several of those goals. So Consider This wish list for 2014:

  • Work begins on I-73
  • Ride III is passed in Horry County
  • Existing businesses expand and new industry comes to the Pee Dee and the Grand Strand creating thousands of jobs
  • With its new April date, Darlington has the most successful Southern 500 ever
  • Major announcements for renovation in Downtown Florence
  • A while we're wishing, a national football championship for South Carolina or Clemson. I know you're supposed to pick one or the other, but for me either would be really, really nice.

Hopefully when we review the list next year we can say - WOW - we accomplished all of that. Hey, we can all dream. Happy New Year!
