FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – An 8-year-old boy was accidentally shot by his father while they were out hunting Wednesday evening in Florence County, confirmed a Department of Natural Resources official.
A father, son and cousin, locals to Florence County, were out deer hunting Wednesday near Olanta when the 8-year-old was accidentally shot by his dad around 5 p.m., said Robert McCullough with DNR. The boy was hit with a couple of buckshots from a shotgun.
The boy was treated at a local hospital, and his injuries don't appear to be life threatening, McCullough said. DNR will be in the area Thursday to investigate the incident.
