MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A 25-year-old Myrtle Beach woman is facing several financial card fraud charges, in addition to theft and burglary charges, allegedly after burglarizing a family staying at a motel, and using a debit card belonging to a man she was staying with, according to several police reports.
Autumn Lea Durham was arrested on December 30 and charged with financial transaction card fraud, financial transaction card theft, and second-degree burglary in connection with two incidents.
Back in September, WMBF News reported on an incident involving a family vacationing at the Wave Rider Resort in Myrtle Beach. The family claimed that someone claiming to be a guest in their room obtained an extra key from the front desk, and then stole hundreds of dollars and a handgun from the room.
The female suspect was caught on the hotel's security camera with another unidentified male suspect. According to the arrest report, Myrtle Beach Police believe Durham was the woman responsible.
On November 22, police responded to Carolina Cove in reference to a larceny, according to the MBPD incident report. The victim told police he let the offenders stay at his apartment because he wanted to help them out with a place to stay. One offender, identified in the report as Durham, told the victim she took his debit card and used it several times without his permission.
According to several different incident reports, she used his card several times, charging it for $200 to $400 each time.
Durham told WMBF News that she turned herself in to Myrtle Beach Police and was later released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.
