Lake City's New hotel continues to move forward

Posted: Updated:

LAKE CITY, SOUTH CAROLINA (WMBF) - Lake City is undergoing major changes along West Main Street, and it's helping to bring more money into the area.

The hope for the hotel currently under construction in Lake City, Inn at the Crossroads, is that it will help draw more people to the area and give visitor a place to stay, while also helping to boost the local economy.

"I think it's going to draw people over here, when they come into town," said Lizzie Heath.

Lizzie Heath just opened her women's salon and spa, just across the street from the Inn at the Crossroads, being built in the city of Lake City.

"It's great for people to be able to walk right out of the hotel and into my salon," said Heath.

Heath is just one of several new business owners who see the potential in opening shops along West Main Street, directly in the heart of the revitalization happening in Lake City.

"We performed over 25 ribbon cuttings in the year of 2013, and we look for bigger and better things to happen in 2014," said Greg Moore.

The Greater Lake City Chamber of Commerce President, Greg Moore said, the opening of The Inn at the Crossroads is one of the major unveilings the area is looking forward to.

This hotel will feature 57 rooms a restaurant and boutique shops.

Today the contractor of this $6 million project said within a couple of weeks a roof will be constructed onto the current shell, and then interior work will begin.

The Inn at the Crossroads is expected to be complete sometime this summer.

"A lot of people are coming on board and want to be a part of what's happening here," said Moore.

Lizzie Heath she said being a business owner and watching the Lake City area take off is something she would have never seen coming.

"Being a local girl and growing up in Lake City, it was very empty - it was like a ghost town...there was nothing here. And now over the next couple of years, we just keep getting more and more," said Heath.
