DILLON, SC (WMBF) – A suspicious death in a Dillon mobile home that was reported on Sunday has been ruled a murder, and a suspect is in custody, officials confirmed.

Johnathan Williamson, 25, from Dillon County, was being sought by the Dillon County Sheriff's Office and turned himself in early Monday morning.

The office was called to do a welfare check at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday at a mobile home located in the 2300 block of Highway 301 North, said Captain Cliff Arnette with the DCSO. Deputies entered the home and found a deceased male inside, Capt. Arnette said.

The Dillon County Coroner identified the victim as 52-year-old Edward Broach, of Dillon County. The manner of death was murder, but the cause of death is not being released yet due to the pending investigation.

Capt. Arnette said Broach lived in the home he was found dead in, and Williamson lived in the same area. The two men are not related, but did know each other, Capt. Arnette confirmed.

Information on a motive or murder weapon is not being released at this time.

Williamson is being held in the Dillon County Detention Center and has not yet appeared before a judge. He may face more charges, in addition to murder.

The sheriff's office is still investigating, so Captain Arnette could not say if more arrests will be made.
