One dead after early morning Kings Hwy crash

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - One person is dead after an early morning crash on Kings Highway near the Sea Gate Village.

The SCHP initially said Tuesday that injuries were associated with the crash, but later announced one man died. The male driver has now been identified as 45 year-old Robin Miller. The crash shut down Kings Highway for a period of time Tuesday morning.

Surfside Beach Police Chief Rodney Keziah says at 3:55 a.m. an officer attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Kings Highway. Other agencies then became involved in trying to catch up to the vehicle. Later a witness informed police that the Datsun crashed near a wooded area South of Farrow Parkway in Myrtle Beach.

"An internal review of the pursuit will be conducted to insure that all of our policies and procedures were followed," said Keziah. "Which is standard procedure in these cases."

The crash also remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
