Dillon Co. home invasion results in gunfire

Posted: Updated:

DILLON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Two men forced their way into a home on 18th Ave in Dillon County at gunpoint Sunday night, according to Jason Turner with the Dillon City Police.

One of the men was armed, the other was not. They entered the home at gunpoint around 9:45 p.m., and asked the couple who rent the home for their money.

Turner said the victims gave the suspects their money. Their children were playing video games in the back of the house, and the male victim was worried the suspects would harm the children so he tried to disarm the suspect carrying the weapon.

At this point, Turner said the gun discharged on the male victim, and the bullet grazed the his hand. He went to the hospital, and his hand was bandaged but it did not require stitches.

The suspects fled through the front door on foot, and the DCP do not have any suspects at this time.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call 843-774-0051 ext. 1031.
