MBPD: Attempted purse-snatcher threatened woman's life, got away

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Myrtle Beach Police responded to an attempted purse-snatching that occurred around 8 p.m. Sunday, according to the police report.

The victim said she was walking down Withers Alley at 21st Ave N in Myrtle Beach around 8 p.m. She said a man she did not know grabbed her from behind. She turned around and saw an older white male, wearing dark clothes, boots and a beanie hat. He demanded for her purse.

The victim said the suspect cursed at her and said if she did not give him her purse, he was going to kill her. A struggle for the purse ensued, and the snap eventually broke. The victim fell and the suspect ran away without the purse.

The victim walked to a nearby hotel to call for help. Responding officers searched for a man that matched the victims' description of the suspect, but they were not able to locate anyone the victim believed was him.
