Boil water advisory issued for Byrd St. residents in Timmonsville

TIMMONSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - A boil water advisory was issues to the residents of the 400 block of West Byrd Street  Friday afternoon. Read the full advisory below:

The Town of Timmonsville Water System located in Florence County, advises the residents, to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking.

The main feed line in the chlorine system broke in the Timmonsville Water system which has resulted in a very low chlorine residual in the water system. There has been no confirmed contamination of the system. However, customers are advised to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking until otherwise notified by the Town of Timmonsville. Also, any ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.

The Town of Timmonsville is presently working to correct the problem.
