I have shared several times that the former Myrtle Beach Economic Development organization was better at business prevention than business recruitment. Fortunately, times have changed.
Congratulations to Brad Lofton and his team at the MBREDC for landing another business, this one the biggest yet with plans to bring 600 new jobs to the region. The economic development group now has more than 1,300 jobs in the pipeline.
With this announcement the final nail was hammered into the coffin of the former dysfunctional, non-productive business recruitment organization. There is now a commitment from area business, educational and government leaders to recruit more business and create more jobs; to work collaboratively and creatively to better our region. That's what it takes and that's why we are finally having success in recruiting these new businesses.
