MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - A fourth quarter rally by the North team in Saturday's Touchstone Cooperatives Energy Bowl propelled them to a 38-21 victory at Doug Shaw Stadium. The win avenges a 23-0 loss suffered by the team in last year's annual North vs. South bowl game.
The North team took a 17-0 lead into the locker room at halftime thanks to touchdown runs by York's Ryan Moore and Mauldin's Dre Massey.
But in the second half, the southsiders mounted a comeback, that resulted in a 21-17 advantage when Marlboro County product Ronheen Bingham recovered a blocked punt and ran it in for a touchdown.
However, Moore added his second touchdown of the game shortly thereafter, and the North squad didn't look back. Blythewood's Jalen Williams tacked on a defensive touchdown, and Gaffney's Hyleck Foster added another touchdown reception.
The South team's MVPs were Goose Creek's Jordan Barnes, who had a touchdown reception, and Bingham who had eight tackles, two sacks and the touchdown. The North side's Massey and Williams took home MVP honors for their squad. Click above to see highlights of the game.
