2 of the nine 2013 homicide cases in Horry Co. remain unsolved

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – There have been nine homicides in Horry County this year.  Seven of them have been solved but police are still searching for answers in two of them

One of the cases is the Amber Berbiglia murder. The 23-year-old was found beaten to death under the Robert Edge Parkway overpass in May.

An autopsy showed she died of blunt force trauma, but police did not find a weapon.

About a month later, police found a man shot to death at a home near Highway 701 in Loris.  The victim was 53-year-old Ronald Hardee.

"Our major crimes detectives continue to work both of the cases to identify a suspect or suspects that were involved in each homicide," said Lt. Robert Kegler.

Tips and leads still come into the police department about both cases.

"It's not always an everyday thing it may be weeks or a month before another tip comes in, but as soon as those tips come in detectives jump on that tip and work it as much as they can," added Lt. Kegler.

In 2012, there were 18 homicides in Horry County. One of the 2012 cases has not been solved.
