Warrant: Mom admits to cocaine use while pregnant

LAKE CITY, SC (WMBF) - A Lake City mother was arrested for unlawful neglect of a child after her newborn died with cocaine metabolite in their system.

According to warrants for the arrest of 28-year-old Natasha Allen, she gave birth to a son in her Lake City home on August 18.

Allen and the infant were taken to the hospital where the baby died less than three days later. The baby boy weighed 746 grams, a lot over one pound, when he died.

An autopsy found "cocaine metabolite" in the child's system.

Natasha Allen admitted to using cocaine while she was pregnant, the warrant stated. She was arrested on Dec. 12 and charged with unlawful neglect of a child.
