Controlled burn causes smoke in North Myrtle Beach

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Residents in North Myrtle Beach may have seen smoke in the sky Friday morning – this was due to a controlled burn in the area.

An alert from the North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety sent at 10:09 a.m. stated that there was a controlled burn in the area of 20th Avenue South and Possum Trot Road.

    A student at Lake City High School was arrested Tuesday morning after guns were discovered in the student's truck, according to Major Mike Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.

    A 32-year-old man was reportedly robbed at gunpoint of $1,984 and other belongings Monday afternoon by two men Monday afternoon. According to a Myrtle Beach Police Department incident report, police responded to a home in the 100 block of Cedar Street for a report of an armed robbery.
