Report: Homeless couple robbed at gunpoint outside community kitchen

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A homeless couple was robbed by a man with a gun Wednesday night outside the Helping Hand community outreach center.

The incident happened at about 11:05 p.m. in the parking lot behind Helping Hand, confirmed Captain David Knipes with the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

The suspect came up to the couple with a handgun, hit the woman, and robbed them, he said. The couple was using the back parking lot to sleep in their vehicle.

The suspect was described in the police report as an African-American man between 18 and 25 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9 in height, and 150 to 170 pounds in weight. The incident is under investigation by MBPD.
