FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - The Coker College Adult Learners Program for Higher Achievement (ALPHA) will relocate the Lake City campus to Poyner Adult & Community Education Center in Florence for their following term this coming January.

According to Chris Dougherty, Manager of College and Athletic Media Relations, and Coker Provost and Dean of the Faculty Tracy Parkinson, relocating to Poynor will better suit the needs of their adult students, through updated computer labs, additional parking, extra classrooms and continuous on-site security. The current schedule of classes will change from Tuesday/Thursday to Monday/Wednesday evening sessions. The four majors will continued to be offered, but additional majors will be added soon to the academic curriculum.

Parkinson mentioned how grateful they are for the support and partnership of Lake City High School, but is excited about the move and advancement of the ALPHA program and the college. Elaine Hodges shares Parkinson's enthusiasm, saying, "Our recruitment activities always involve individuals expressing a desire for a Coker site in the Florence area. Opening this location shows that we heard, and are ready, to address their educational needs."
