MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A 33-year-old woman was arrested and charged with neglect of a child Thursday after a police officer found a small child "drenched in sweat" in a locked vehicle, according to a police report.

A Myrtle Beach Police officer responded to the 500 block of Seaboard Street after someone noticed a child locked in a vehicle and called 911 after waiting a few minutes, the MBPD report states.

The officer used a tool to open the vehicle, and had the child checked out by a medic, who said she was a little dehydrated. The officer went to the nearby store and made an announcement, but no one responded.

The officer then noticed a woman walking towards the vehicle about 45 minutes later, and she was identified as the offender.

Anzhelika Iakymenko was arrested, charged with unlawful neglect of a child, and taken to the Myrtle Beach jail. The child was released to the father's custody.
