PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WMBF) – This year, Brookgreen Gardens is expanding its Nights of a Thousand Candles to nine nights: December 5-7, 12-14, and 19-21.

Brookgreen Gardens will "come to life amid the soft glow of more than 5,500 hand-lit candles and countless sparkling lights from 3 - 10 p.m." during this popular holiday tradition.

"Every year this event has grown and after last year's record breaking number of visitors, we knew we needed to add more nights. "said Bob Jewell, President and CEO. "You will see some new lights and decorations that we've added to keep the event fresh, but we've keep some of the favorite areas the same – they have a timeless appeal."

Organizers suggest that visitors come on a Thursday evening to avoid the weekend crowds, and arrive between 4 and 5 p.m. to have more time to see the candles being lit up. Dinner, catered by Inlet Affairs, is available from 3:30 to 9 p.m., and includes seafood, BBQ, chicken bog, and vegetarian options.
