MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Police in Myrtle Beach responded to a pond off 48th Avenue North where a car was apparently submerged in the water.

The pond is near the intersection of 48th Avenue North and Bermuda Way in Myrtle Beach. It is unclear how the car got in the pond, but a Myrtle Beach Police corporal says it appears the driver misjudged the turn.

The male driver was the only person in the car and was rescued after being underwater for some time.

He was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Though his condition is unknown, the corporal says he was breathing when he was loaded into the ambulance.
