Myrtle Beach firefighters respond to fire at another abandoned motel

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Hours after putting out a fire at one abandoned motel, Myrtle Beach firefighters responded to a fire at another abandoned motel after midnight Wednesday.

Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue got a call for a fire at 2609 S. Ocean Boulevard at about 12:30 a.m. MBFD firefighters responded to the Majestic Shores Hotel, which is abandoned, said Battalion Chief Tom Gwyer.

The fire apparently started on the second floor, and smoke spread to the third and fourth floors. Gwyer said it was completely controlled within about 30 minutes.

Officials are unsure about the extent of the damage. No one was inside, and no one was injured. It is unknown exactly how it started, and the fire is under investigation at this time.

At about 8 p.m. Tuesday, MBFR responded to an abandoned motel at 1405 S. Ocean Boulevard to put out a fire. On November 22, a fire that was determined to be arson was set at the abandoned Holiday South Motel at 2605 S. Ocean Boulevard, next door to the Majestic Shores Hotel.
