MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The sale of a well-known Myrtle Beach-area restaurant is pending, as the owner and his wife say they plan to retire.
The sale of Nibils to a group of buyers from New York is pending, confirmed owner Jack Cahill. The restaurant was located at Surfside Pier for 23 years before relocating under some controversy to Myrtle Beach in 2011.
The restaurant will close on its seasonal closing date of December 15, and from there, it will be up to the new owners to decide when it will re-open.
The restaurant will not retain the Nibils name, but Cahill said he will "help the buyers get started" by keeping some of the eatery's flavor on the menu, such as some of the current menu's soup and salad selections.
The buyers plan on adding a bakery to the restaurant, Cahill added.
A civil suit filed by Cahill in January 2013 against the Town of Surfside Beach is still pending, he said.
