HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Police responded to a home on Palmetto Drive for a reported shooting late Sunday night to find a victim that had apparently been shot several times after answering his door.
According to the Horry County Police report, an officer responded to a report of a shooting at the 3800 block of Palmetto Drive, near Myrtlewood Golf Club, just before midnight Sunday. The complainant led the officer inside to his roommate, the shooting victim, who was covered in blood and appeared to have an unknown number of bullet wounds.
The officer noticed two holes in the rear interior wall of home, and blood drops scattered on the floor.
The 25-year-old victim told the officer that he had heard a knock at the door and opened it, believing it to be a friend. He instead saw two suspects wearing masks. The victim said one of the suspects told him to be quiet, and then shot at him, striking him in the hand and legs. The suspects then fled toward the back of the house.
The scene was taped off, and the Criminal Investigations Division took over the investigation.
