Officials identify victim, suspect in fatal shooting near Lamar

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – One man is dead and another has been arrested after a shooting at a home on Old Timers Court near Lamar in Darlington County, said Captain Andy Locklair with the Darlington County Sheriff's Office.

Jeffrey Clayton Dolford, 30, of Olanta was identified by Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee as the victim of the shooting. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Capt. Locklair, Dolford got into an argument with Shayne Baxley, just after midnight Sunday, and Baxley allegedly shot and killed Dolford. According to jail records, Baxley is a 31-year-old Lamar resident.

Capt. Locklair confirmed Baxley was arrested and faces the following charges: murder, possession of a firearm during a violent crime, unlawful possession of a firearm – convicted felon, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
