MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – On Saturday, the local group "Turn Purple" will again turn the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel purple for National Pancreatic Cancer awareness month.
This is the group's 2nd Annual "Glowing Purple" event, and on Saturday night, the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel will again be lit up all in purple lights to mark the end of National Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.
According to the Facebook group "Turning Purple for Pancreatic Cancer," the disease "is something many of us know little about. It is a secretive and aggressive cancer which is difficult to diagnose and sadly in the majority of cases, it is identified too late for surgery to take place - the only possible cure."
The local group also held a walk in July of this year to raise awareness and funds to support cancer research.
