MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – For days several people lined up outside the Myrtle Beach Best Buy hoping to cash in on a deal on Black Friday.
More than 150 people lined up awaiting the kickoff to the busiest shopping time of the year. But for some like Garland Smith, Black Friday started 10 hours earlier in the day.
"We're Christmas shopping with my son-in-law and my niece's husband and I love Bass Pro," added Smith.
For the past nine years, Smith has spent his Thanksgiving holiday shopping at Bass Pro Shops. The store has been opened for the holiday for more than 40 years.
Smith said there is really no other place he would rather be.
"Hey it's the beginning of the Christmas spirit when you get full of turkey then look for something to wear," said Smith.
Store manager Brad Andrews said his store might see more business this year because so many other stores are opening on Thursday night.
"I don't know if we're like a warm up stretch for someone or what, but we are open til 6 and there's a lot of places opening early, but I'm not sure if people will head out for the marathon shopping day," added Andrews.
