Over the past few years Black Friday has slowly and steadily started creeping into Thursday.
The move is on and what was once a Friday after Thanksgiving ritual for many shoppers is now becoming a Thanksgiving evening ritual. Many people are complaining that the earlier shopping madness kick-off time is ruining Thanksgiving. It seems unfair that people are required to work instead of relaxing and spending time with their families.
The only way this trend will end is if shoppers don't show up. I don't see that happening. And as we have seen, when one retailer starts earlier, the other companies will follow along. The early evening Thanksgiving opening this year will most likely creep earlier and earlier into the day in the future. I guess Thanksgiving will become Black Thursday. And there's no reason to be thankful about that.
