Marlboro Co. teen believes attitude is key to success

MARLBORO COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Kasey Rogers, a junior at Marlboro County High School, is nothing short of spectacular when it comes to academics and sports.

Kasey does exceptionally well with weight lifting and is one of the top female athletes in her school.

"Weight lifting, it helps me a lot like improve in softball and volleyball," said Rogers, who is a duel sport athlete. It has helped me a lot with my power and my drive to want to succeed in life. I want to go to college for softball so I am really looking forward to just keep progressing and weight training," she said.

Kasey is a duel sport athlete in softball and volleyball. She was named to the all region softball team as a Freshman and Sophomore. She has also excelled in the classroom while being ranked 5th out of 248 students in her class with a 4.51 GPA. When talking about her success Kasey goes back to how much her parents influenced her.

"They have raised me very well, she says. "They just, they push me to be the best I can be and they always push me and have faith in me and I really appreciate that," said Rogers.

Rogers likes to go hunting and fishing when she isn't playing sports. She is a part of academic clubs, and she has played the saxophone before as well. Kasey has been known by her friends and teachers as a well rounded student and she believes staying positive is a key to her success.

"Well I think the main point would be to stay positive through everything. I mean you are going to have failures, and you're going to struggle through life," she says. "You just have to stay positive and always think of good outcomes."
